Ministries

Curtis Baptist Church offers many opportunities for individuals of all ages to learn about the Lord, fellowship together, and have fun. We are a very enthusiastic church! Please click on any of the photos below (or use the links under the "Ministries" tab) to learn how to join in any or all of our many activities.
"And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists and some pastors and teachers for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the Body of Christ."
        Ephesians 4:11-12 (NKJV)

Our Pastor

Pastor Ray White and his wife Jane are pleased to be leading the congregation in Curtis. They have previously ministered in churches in Texas and Colorado.
Even though Pastor Ray attended two conservative Baptist seminaries and earned several degrees, he doesn't prefer to be called Doctor, but rather Brother "because we are all a part of the family!" Jane holds a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education. Brother Ray was employed by the Dallas Fire Department as a firefighter from 1970-1982, and also was the owner of Free State Map Company, a company doing technical mapping. Jane was a public school teacher in Mabank, Texas.
On May 24, 1981, he surrendered his life to the ministry of our Lord Jesus Christ. Brother Ray pastored Parkview Baptist Church in Malakoff, Texas, while furthering his education at the BMAA Theological Seminary in Jacksonville, Texas. After much prayer, he and his family moved to Dolores, Colorado. God opened the door for a new church plant; Mountain View Baptist Church. He remained as pastor there
for 16 years. They then returned to Texas, where he pastored Union Baptist Church in Springtown for 9 years. During this time he attended Landmark Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, where he earned his Master of Theology and the Doctorates. Through a sequence of events (the handiwork of God) they moved to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, just as Curtis Baptist Church was in need of a pastor! The love that he and this congregation have for each other is apparent.
Pastor Ray considers himself a simple man who loves the Lord and His people.  He has a unique sense of humor and enjoys teaching the Word of God. His strongest desire is to see the congregation grow in faith. He is excited about what God is doing, and looks forward to the Lord continuing to grow Curtis Baptist Church.
